Hi friends,

My name is Bjorn and I'm the creator of Taco States of America. Thanks for checking out the blog!

Perhaps we've both had the following experience. You're new to town and want to find some good tacos. You look on Yelp, Google, etc. and end up sifting through dozens of chains or restaurants that serve tacos alongside pasta, pancakes, and pierogies. You read reviews from 5+ years ago. You narrow your choices down to a small handful of places and wonder if 3.88 stars is much worse than 3.92 stars.

Seems like things could be better!

Taco States of America borrows some ideas from the world of sports to improve upon the standard Google/Yelp model. We have single-elimination tournaments. We have a leaderboard with points that expire after a certain window of time (like tennis or golf rankings). In addition to a star rating, you can designate a taco shop as your best ever. All these combine to make a more accurate, fun, and practical ranking of taco shops.

I work on this project for fun and on the side. If you have ideas to make it better or want to help out, send me an email. Otherwise I'm taking on one state at a time as I have time. I hope to make it to your state soon!
